As part of our focus on women in STEM, in honor of International Women's day, we are holding a Twitter chat with prominent women in Charles River Laboratories to discuss subjects pertaining to women entering STEM industries.

Bodil Van Niel

Director of Chemistry, Charles River Discovery

With a doctorate in synthetic organic chemistry, Bodil has carried out research across a range of therapeutic areas including CNS indications, kinase and nuclear receptor targets. She is a key contributor to the identification of drug development candidates, published 18 papers and is an inventor in more than 40 patent applications.

Swati Prasad

Senior Manager, Business Development and Scientific Alliances, Charles River Laboratories

Swati Prasad is a Senior Manager, Business Development and Scientific Alliances, at Charles River Laboratories. She manages drug discovery alliances and strategic partnerships with focus on creative business models to increase revenues, penetrate markets and strengthen drug discovery portfolio. Previously, she was at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals where she managed external collaborations and partnerships. She has expertise in collaboration management and is a certified project management professional (PMP). She has extensive experience in large pharma, CRO and life science industry with hands-on drug development experience across diverse therapeutic areas and entire lifecycle, from preclinical research to clinical development candidates. She holds a doctorate degree in Chemistry from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, India, an MBA from Wilmington University and a bachelors in Classical Music from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, India.

Sam Jorgensen

Public Relations and Social Media Manager, Charles River Laboratories

Sam Jorgensen is responsible for collaborating with communications, human resources, marketing and sales to nurture and develop Charles River's presence and identity online, through both organic and paid integrated campaigns. A huge component of that is giving Charles River’s world class researchers and scientists a voice through the Company’s digital and earned media presence to promote and raise awareness of the work they do each day.
